Musical Curation

My crate spans five decades and as many continents, so on any given night a North African rhythm might meet a South Asian melody, a downtempo groove might lift without warning into percussive joy, and a room might arrive somewhere none of us planned to go. I play underground house, breaks, drum and bass, and global bass built from UK, African, Asian and Latin sounds, spacious and groovy and worldly, with vibes as thick as the basslines.

What I am actually doing when I play is welcoming you with something that feels familiar and then taking you somewhere that surprises you. Nineteen years of DJing has taught me that the moment that I live for is the one where a room stops being a group of individuals and instead becomes a collective intelligence, and that moving together to music is our oldest form of building community and connection.

Those eighteen years run from Seattle clubs that no longer exist to Benaroya Hall, from forest stages at Cascadia to the Laser Dome at Pacific Science Center, and through every one of those rooms I have been building the same thing, which is a space where people feel safe enough to let go and express themselves.

I produce and host too. Benefits, galas, festivals, book launches and fundraisers, including leading the ask that funds the work.

This isn't background music. It's a call to actively engage in moving together - physically, mentally and emotionally!

Wo'Pop on KEXP

I host Wo'Pop, KEXP's world music show, every other Tuesday from 7 to 10pm on KEXP 90.3 FM Sea 92.7FM SF Bay. Studio guests have included Anoushka Shankar, Sofia Kourtesis, Ganavya, Stavroz, and Raveena.

Guest programming across KEXP

Beyond my own show, I have been invited to program and play across the station, including Indigenous Peoples Day three years running, AAPI Heritage Month two years running, Eastern Echoes, KEXP's Asian diaspora show, and Expansions on multiple occasions.
